Director's View

Genealogy is a huge business worldwide – people want to know where they came from, who they are related to, why they have green eyes or red hair.  The Public Libraries of Saginaw and the City of Saginaw GIS and Cemetery Divisions have partnered up on a great local genealogy resource.  We’ve spent hundreds of staff hours between us creating a database of the city cemeteries – we’re literally finding where the bodies are buried.  This database is available on the library website and will be kept updated by the city Cemetery Division.  It’s a stellar example of cooperation between two organizations for the greater good of both. That’s one of the strengths of our library system – forging local partnerships that create a better product and make information more accessible to everyone who needs it.
